Analytic Philosophy and the Philosophy of Religion

چکیده:
The late 20th Century renaissance in the philosophy of religion coincided with the mastery of new analytic techniques on the part of its distinguished practitioners—Nicholas Wolterstorff, William Alston, Bob and Marilyn Adams, and especially Alvin Plantinga. From modal logic to Bayes’ Theorem, philosophers of religion reconceived of the landscape in their discipline. Through the work of Alvin Plantinga, I will show the importance of three analytic practices—modal logic, conceptual analysis, probability theory—to the philosophy of religion. I will conclude with a brief exploration of the importance developments in science—especially in the cognitive science of religion—to philosophical inquiry.
