Research vs Researches

A team of American scientists is carrying out research into the effects of acid rain.

• Their more recent researches point to a decline in the mortality rate.

I'm doing a research into the causes of child abuse.
I'm doing research into the causes of child abuse.

The government invests a lot of money in scientific researches.
The government invests a lot of money in scientific research.
