بهمن از واژه اوستایی وهومن گرفته شده که با «اندیشه نیک»، «منش نیک» و «خرد سپندینه» : «خرد مقدس» برابر نهاده شده است. ایرانیان، یازدهمین ماه سال و دومین روز از هر ماه را به نام وهومن نامگذاری کرده‌اند و آن را جشن می‌گیرند.
Bahman is derived from the Avestan word Vohman, which is equated with "good thought", "good character" and "Sepandineh wisdom": "holy wisdom". Iranians name the eleventh month of the year and the second day of each month after Vohuman and celebrate it.
