بعضی از جشن‌های آریایی با برپایی آتش آغاز می‌شد. این جشن‌ها در میان اقوام هند و ایرانی، هندو و اروپایی، رومی‌ها و یونانی‌ها مرسوم بوده. در باور زرتشتیان روشنی، آتش و آفتاب، تجلی اهورامزدا ست. جشن سده و چهارشنبه سوری از جشن‌های آتش هستند که هنوز رواج دارند.
