President Salih Meets Saudi Arabia's Minister of Commerce and Investment: It is critical to strengthen the relationship between Iraq and Saudi Arabia at every level, in the interests of both peoples and the people of the region as well

On Monday, July 19, 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih met with the Saudi Arabian Minister of Commerce and Investment, Majid al-Qasabi alongside his delegation. The meeting took place at Baghdad Palace.
Minister al-Qasabi first conveyed greetings and Eid Aldha's congratulations from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud, to President Salih.
Iraqi President Salih also passed on greetings from Iraq to the Saudi royals, and he also congratulated them on the advent of the blessed Eid al-Adha, in turn.
The close relations between the two neighboring countries and the two fraternal peoples, in addition to the ways of enhancing these ties across all sectors, were discussed during the meeting.
It is vital to strengthen Iraqi- Saudi ties, with focus on the need to further cooperation and coordination at every level, President Salih said, while this can be achieved through joint Iraqi-Saudi Coordinating Council that will cover all vital and important areas between the two countries, economic, commercial, agricultural, investment, oil and others.
Iraqi President Salih spoke about the brotherly relations that link Iraq and Saudi Arabian, and how to develop these ties in the ways that can better serve the interest of both nations' ties.
Meeting Participants showed both countries' eagerness to bridge the relations between Iraqi and the Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC).
We do believe that it is a matter deserving regional attention that Iraq be a stable, secure and sovereign state and that Iraq have a good relationship with its Arab environment and neighboring Muslim states, they said, therefore, this is an essential part of building regional security and stability as well as promoting peace and development in the region.
Minister al-Qasabi, in turn, expressed words of thanks to President Salih, while emphasizing his country's commitment to supporting Iraq’s security and stability. Furthermore, he noted Saudi Arabian's eagerness to further develop economic, investment and trade ties with Iraq in ways that best serve the interests of both peoples.
