Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani presided over a meeting of the Higher Committee for Nineveh Governorate's Reconstruction. The session focused on monitoring and assessing the progress of service projects and infrastructure reconstruction in the governorate's main city, districts, and sub-districts.
His Excellency highlighted the historical significance and strategic location of Nineveh Governorate, particularly the city of Mosul, while acknowledging the immense hardships endured during the terrorist onslaught by ISIS militants.
The Prime Minister emphasized the ongoing need to oversee and monitor service projects through the newly established Executive Office for Nineveh's Reconstruction, including its updated work plan. He also stressed the importance of tracking local initiatives, the reconstruction fund, and projects supported by international organizations and agencies. Coordination among these diverse projects was highlighted as a crucial aspect.
His Excellency further instructed the Executive Office for Governorate Reconstruction to formulate a comprehensive strategy for a national campaign aimed at clearing debris and waste resulting from terrorist activities and liberation operations. The plan should encompass the Old City in Mosul, as well as the districts of Sinjar and Tal Afar.
The meeting approved the commencement of the Nineveh International Hotel and Ashur Hotel reconstruction projects, along with the construction of the sixth and seventh bridges and the Ring Road in Mosul.
The meeting assessed the status of banking companies in the province, and the Central Bank of Iraq was instructed to address the issues and challenges hindering the full resumption of these companies' operations and services for the province's residents.
During the meeting, Mr. Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of formulating a forward-looking economic and social vision for the governorate. This vision aims to enhance stability and ensure long-term economic and social prosperity for all residents, regardless of their backgrounds.
