Joe was the son of a farmer. His father's farm was poor, and Joe worked on it for a long time, but then his father died, and Joe said, "I needn't stay here now. I'll sell this farm and buy one in a better place. Then I'll soon be rich."
He bought a farm in the east of the country, but then new neighbours said to him, "The weather's often very bad here. The wind's very strong, and it breaks windows and doors. You must build a room under the ground, and then you and your family can go down there, and you'll be safe from the wind."
So Joe built a room under the ground. It was a lot of work, because the ground was hard.
But after that, the weather was good for a very long time. There was no wind, and Joe spoke angrily. He said, "Why did I listen to my neighbours? I didn't have to make that room under the ground. The wind never blows strongly here."
But then one day there was a very strong wind, and Joe and his family had to go down into their room under the ground. They were there for a long time. Then the wind stopped, and they came up. All the windows and doors in their house were broken.

There were more monsters, more meteors, more questions, then these words - 'Congratulations! Land on the moon.' Shatha's rocket landed on the moon very slowly. The computer showed pictures of the moon. There were dead volcanoes and huge deserts. In the sky was Earth – o home. "That was fun,' thought Shatha, and turned the computer off. She went to the sitting room. "Shatha!' said her father. 'Where have you been? It's 10 o'clock. You've missed your favourite programme.' "Oh,' said Shatha. 2021-09-07 18:23:00 نستخدم النفي ب didn't عندما يكون هناك فعل في الجملة واريد ان انفيه في زمن الماضي
مثال :
I visited my friend yesterday.
انا زرت صديقي يوم أمس.

لكن عند نفي هذه الجملة سنقول :
I didn't visit my friend yesterday.
انا لم أزر صديقي يوم أمس.

لاحظ اننا استخدمنا didn't للنفي لأن هناك فعل في الجملة المراد نفيها والذي هو ( visited).

أما لو كانوالفعل في الجملة المراد نفيها فعل مساعد مثل was /were فكيف سيكون النفي؟
ركز على المثال التالي :

Ali  was in Cairo the last month.
علي كان في القاهره الشهر الماضي.

Ali wasn't in Cairo the last month.
علي لم يكن في القاهرة الشهر الماضي

They were in China the last week.
هم كانوا في الصين الاسبوع الماضي

They weren't in China the last week.

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was very hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house.

However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal, he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk.

He drank it so slowly, and then asked: “How much do I owe you?” You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.” He said: “Then I thank you from my heart.”

Many years later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.

Dr Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room…

From that day, Dr Kelly gave special attention to her case. After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it and then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room.

She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally, she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words:
