Research Associate - Genome Analyst
Qualifications / Requirements:
• PhD in Medical Genetics, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology or related field, or
• MSc from an accredited degree program in Genetic Counselling, or
• MSc in the above disciplines with 3 years of work experience in the analysis of genomic variants.
• Minimum 3 years experience in the application of next generation sequencing to identify the underlying cause of rare disease (preferred)
• Experience in the use of commercial genomic analysis software (preferred)
• Experience in a clinical setting (preferred)
• Advanced understanding of human genetics and heredity (required)
• Advanced understanding of molecular biology and mechanisms of disease (required)
• Understanding of NGS including library preparation, sequencing, mapping, variant calling, variant annotation and associated quality metrics (required)
• Proficient in the use of public databases, including GnomAD, ClinVar, OMIM, and performing literature searches (required).
• Ability to work effectively in a changing environment (required)
• Strong team working/collaboration and interpersonal skills (required)
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills (required)
• Ability to work for extended periods of time at a computer workstation

Position Summary:
• Perform routine transformations using synthetic organic chemistry
• Maintain and operate an automated DNA synthesizer
• Purify DNA and RNA using chromatography
• Quantify DNA and RNA using absorbance spectrometry
• Conduct fluorescence-based assays including qPCR
• Assist with the writing of manuscripts, patent applications, and in the training of students
Qualifications:
