ṣāliḥ al-fawzān said, "prayer is the second pillar of islam, the differentiating factor between belief and disbelief, the cornerstone of the religion, and it is the first thing the servant will be questioned about on the day of resurrection. if it is performed correctly and thus accepted by Allah, all of one’s good deeds will be accepted, but if rejected, so will all one’s deeds."

during a public address in 1353/1934, king ʿabd al-ʿazīz of saudi arabia said, "we neither obey ibn ʿabd al-wahhāb nor any other person unless what they say is clearly endorsed by Allah’s book and the prophet’s sunnah. Allah made us—me, my fathers and my ancestors—preachers and teachers, according to the qurʾan and the sunnah. wherever we find strong evidence in any of the four maḏahib, we refer and hold to it. otherwise, whenever strong evidence is lacking, we adopt the opinion of imām aḥmad [b. ḥanbal]."
